Childbirth overseas
Childbirth overseas
by Kizzy Petit Doula
Being an immigrant myself, I have experienced the lack of a familiar, trustful, loving and non-judgemental support at the moment of childbirth and during postpartum stage.
My mum and my grandma were at the other side of the world, I wasn't getting any sleep after the baby was born and I was facing a sort of depression, as there were many things that didn't happen as I desired.
Fortunately, the truth is that no matter if we give birth with a proper tribal support or if we end having our baby by ourselves under the shade of an Oak tree, our babies teach us to connect with our own Soul and to embrace the path that really resonates with us and with our Truth... We just need to trust those tiny but very wise human beings.
After having healed my own birthing story and having become a Doula, I can assure you that with a proper guidance and informed support, you definitely can connect with the infinite love and abundance of this wonderful journey of being a Mother, instead of focusing on what you are missing when you are having a baby and your family members are in a different country.
My loving suggestion: Hire a postpartum Doula if you are having a baby overseas, because every new Mum deserves that gentle attention and support.
